Numerous returning Australian and New Zealand college basketballers have their sights set on the NBL, according to league analyst Liam Santamaria.

Numerous returning Australian and New Zealand college basketballers have their sights set on the NBL, according to league analyst Liam Santamaria.

Speaking on NBL Free Agency Market Watch, Santamaria provided an update on the big names teams are monitoring.

Grant Anticevich (Cal, 6’9 forward out of Sydney)

“No one’s making enough noise about Grant Anticevich. He played at Cal, big conference, big school. Picture like a young Tom Vodanovich. 6’8 forward, tough, physical. He's had some big games, he had 21 against UCLA as a junior, 19 against USC last season. I think he's going to find his way onto an NBL roster.”

Lat Mayen (Nebraska, 6’9 forward out of Adelaide)

“He's going to turn pro. (He is) playing for the Cairns Marlins right now, make of that what you will. A 6’9 forward, (he was the) Player of the Week in NBL1 North from this past weekend, put 35 points on Rockhampton. He can go, look for him in free agency in the next little bit.”

Junior Madut (Hawaii, 6’6 guard/wing out of Sydney)

“I think he's going to turn pro. He's a name guys are looking at. A bouncy wing, 6’5-6’6, but shot nearly 40 percent from three last season.”

Sam Waardenburg (Miami, 6’10 forward out of Auckland)

“No doubt he is going to be in the league this season.”
