Sydney Kings superstar Xavier Cooks will miss the next 2-4 weeks with an ankle injury according to coach Chase Buford.

Cooks suffered the ailment during the second quarter of Sunday’s 81-77 win over the New Zealand Breakers.

"It looks like an ankle," Buford said via ESPN.

"I'm sure (Cooks) will get x-rays, he gave me the 'I'll be okay in a few weeks', but that's probably going to be 2-4 weeks minimum."

Cooks is a leading MVP candidate for the first placed Kings. He is averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

The injury has ruled Cooks out of the Australian Boomers team for this week’s FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. He will be replaced by Sydney teammate Jaylin Galloway.
