Kings Expecting 'Massive' Crowd

Huge crowds have become a feature across the league in NBL23, but the Sydney Kings may be set to take things to a new level.

Qudos Bank Arena could be full to the brim on Friday night, with over 13,000 tickets already sold for the Kings’ Championship Series clash against the New Zealand Breakers.

It comes in a season where the NBL has already boasted its highest attendance numbers since 1996, and follows a sold-out crowd in New Zealand for Game 2.

Sydney’s highest crowd this year is 14,232, coincidentally against the Breakers in January, with Hoops Capital CEO Sean Nicholls hopeful of topping that figure.

The Kings welcomed a record 16,149 fans to their Game 3 series-decider against the JackJumpers during last year’s Championship Series.

"We've been blown away by the response from our loyal members and fans for Game 1, with everything pointing towards our biggest crowd of the season," Nicholls told the club’s website.

"Our attendance numbers this year have been unprecedented and it's great that trend has continued to rise in our Championship Series.

"Especially as this could be the last time Kings' supporters get to watch their team in person this season - not to mention possibly the last-ever time we get to watch fan favourite Xavier in the purple and gold at Qudos Bank Arena.

"We can't wait to see everyone there on Friday night, as we attempt to 'Run It Back' and claim our second straight NBL Championship."
