Friday, November 11, 2022
Perth Wildcats coach John Rillie is not looking to change his roster anytime soon and has declared he is “happy” with the Wildcats’ squad.
Perth coach John Rillie is not looking to change his roster anytime soon and has declared he is “happy” with the Wildcats’ squad.
“Our roster is a good roster, I’m happy with our roster,” he said.
“I’m about consistency in life, I truly believe in that, your own work habits, the continuity of your team, it’s easy to have a knee-jerk reaction to something.
“When you make change, what are you making change for, are you just making it for change or is it going to be beneficial.”
Rillie used Brady Manek’s strong performance against Adelaide as an example of his satisfaction with the roster.
Despite being under pressure, Manek came out of his shell and starred for the ‘Cats last weekend.
“Brady definitely showed his value and what he brings to the team when he is playing at a high level,” Rillie said.
Perth is hard at work during the FIBA international break and utilising every moment to work on their progress moving forward.
The Wildcats sit seventh on the ladder with a 4-5 record.
“It’s what your purpose is, to utilise this time (during the FIBA break),” he said.

“It’s been good to reassess, re-evaluate, understand what was good about Adelaide, what wasn’t so good about the previous games.
“We’ve got plenty of room for improvement as a team, the balance is finding out how to utilise this so it is advantageous as appose of it being a bore of everyday coming in.
“Revisiting what was working, what isn’t working, why do we have patches in the game where we look really great and we have patches that are not so good.
“Keeping faith and showing why the little things do really matter in the course of the game.
“It’s a work in progress.”
