Australian high school phenom Roman Siulepa has declared his focus is on making the NBL.
Siulepa is starring at the Australian Schools Championships for Brisbane State High School, showcasing his athleticism and eye-opening skillset.
Despite still being years away from being able to go professional, he has confirmed to Newscorp’s Matt Logue he is looking to follow in the footsteps of Josh Giddey, LaMelo Ball, and other players who have used the NBL pathway to the NBA.
“Yeah of course (I want to play in the NBA), but for now I want to make the NBL,” Siulepa told Newscorp.
“I think it is a good pathway. Obviously, there is college, but for me personally it is just to stay at home, get my roots near my family and go from there.”
The 196cm wing has spent three months at the NBA Global Academy in Canberra and still has two years of high school left.
Siulepa won gold with Australia earlier this year at the FIBA U16 Asian Championships. He was also the MVP of Basketball Without Borders Asia in August and was a member of the Australian FIBA U17 World Cup team.
