Championship winner becomes Free Agent

Tuesday, April 29, 2025
The New Zealand Breakers have parted ways with veteran guard Mitch McCarron.
“Thank you, Mitch," the New Zealand Breakers said via their social channels.
"A true professional who led by example every day, Mitch brought leadership, skill, and heart to the Breakers.
"We’re grateful for everything you’ve given to this club and wish you all the best for what’s next.”
The 32-year-old now becomes a free agent and is currently playing for the Eltham Wildcats in the NBL1 South.
McCarron, who captained the team last season, averaged 16 minutes per game last season, battling through a persistent knee injury. When star guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright was suspended, McCarron stepped into a primary playmaking role and put together his best stretch of basketball for the season.
The former championship winner with Melbourne United in 2021 now enters a new chapter after completing his ninth NBL season.
