Bannan “best fit” for JackJumpers

Monday, April 7, 2025
"A really nice trust piece, but also someone who we haven’t seen the ceiling yet."
When Josh Bannan declined his player option at the Brisbane Bullets, basketball GM’s across the country would have been straight on the phone to his management.
The 24-year-old is one of the brightest young talents in Australia, putting up impressive numbers in 38 games for the Bullets over the last two seasons. Players of his potential simply don't become available like this.
But it seems Bannan may already have a new club locked in, with ESPN’s Olgun Uluc reporting he’s in deep talks with the Tasmania JackJumpers.
“There has been mutual interest between those two parties for a while,” Uluc said on The Marketplace.
“That’s a deal I expect to get done in the coming days.”
The Melbourne-born power forward was a regular in the Bullets’ starting rotation this year, averaging 13.2 points and 8.6 rebounds in close to 30 minutes a game.
“They seem like that’s going to be the best fit for him, both sides,” Pete Hooley said.
“A really nice trust piece, but also someone who we haven’t seen the ceiling yet. We’ve seen glimpses of it when he’s healthy, but we understand that he can be a lot more when he stays not he court and when he delivers in a better offence.”
