The Tasmania JackJumpers have announced the signing of Jarrad Weeks and Fabijan Krslovic for the team’s inaugural season.
Weeks joins the JackJumpers on a two-year deal and will be familiar to Tasmanian basketball fans after suiting up for the Hobart Chargers previously in 2016 becoming a fan favourite.
Most recently with the Sydney Kings where he started his NBL career after stints in New Zealand, Cairns and Illawarra, the man known as ‘Agent 97’ brings a veteran presence to the JackJumpers backcourt.
Weeks said: “As a new franchise coming into the League everyone’s excited to get down there and get this boat moving. I think everyone is going to come in with good energy from the players, to the management and everyone involved with the staff.
“We’ve got a big focus on culture and building the right culture. If we can have a good bunch of guys going in the right direction that is really going to set the tone for us.”
“I loved my time down in Hobart previously. I love the town and everything it has to offer so to tie that in with a new Club starting its journey, it’s a really good time to be involved.”
Krslovic who also joins Tasmania on a two-year deal started his NBL career as a Development Player with the Cairns Taipans before taking up a contracted spot on the roster for the past two seasons.
The power forward cemented himself as a regular starter in Cairns to close out NBL22 highlighted by his first NBL double-double in a win over Sydney in March.
A four-year starter during his time at the University of Montana and junior Australian representative at the U19 FIBA World Championships, Krslovic adds size and shooting to the JackJumpers frontcourt.
Krslovic said: “Being there for the start of a new team is an exciting experience, and a unique opportunity that doesn’t come around too often.
“Speaking to coach Roth and some of the other coaches about what they see for me, and how they see my game fitting into their plans is really exciting. He (Roth) has really sold me on his history of working with big men and taking their game to the next level.”
JackJumpers Head Coach Scott Roth said: “We’re really excited to have Jarrad back in Hobart. The fans really appreciated him during his time with the Chargers and we know he’ll be a big asset when it comes to building the culture of the Club.
“Fab (Krslovic) is another great addition to our roster. His ability to shoot at his size and his toughness are going to be assets for us.He’s another high character player that we are adding to our roster who will help going forward.”
Weeks and Krslovic join Will Magnay, Jack McVeigh, Clint Steindl, Jarred Bairstow, Sam McDaniel and Development Player Sejr Deans on the inaugural JackJumpers roster.
