Creek’s Phoenix promise
Out of contract South East Melbourne star Mitch Creek has declared the only NBL team he will play for is the Phoenix.
“If I play anywhere in the NBL, it’s going to be at the South East Melbourne Phoenix. So everyone at home trying to be a keyboard warrior, whatever it is they want to try to say rumours and all that s**t, just pipe down, I’m signing with South East Melbourne,” Creek said via the Herald Sun.
Frazier II sets expectation
Perth Wildcats import Michael Frazier II says his 19-point performance on Saturday night is the standard he has set for himself.
“That wasn’t a one-off game. That’s what I’m used to. That’s what I expect of myself. I’m going out with that mentality to be in attack mode. I think before, it was a lot of just trying to be the glue guy and get in where I fit in. The way I played last game, I think that game was brewing for a long time,” Frazier II told The West Australian’s The Dribble Podcast.
McCall open to Cairns return
Cairns guard Tahjere McCall would welcome a Taipans return after the club was dealt a brutal run of injuries this season.
“I love Australia. The NBL is a way more versatile league than I thought coming in. It’s been fun and challenging, and I would definitely come back just because the simple fact of the challenges we’ve had and what we’ve been going through,” McCall said via the Cairns Post.
Goulding pleased with home finals
With Melbourne United poised to finish on top of the ladder, captain Chris Goulding says the club needs to take advantage of home court advantage in the finals.
“There’s a lot of things that come with getting home finals. It’s beneficial for the club, beneficial for the fans. It’s now about doing what we need to do to put ourselves in the best position (to make sure) whenever that first home finals game is, we’re ready to roll,” Goulding said via the Herald Sun.
McVeigh’s morning routine
Tasmania JackJumpers forward Jack McVeigh has revealed a morning routine that has helped him have a career year.
“I do my writing every morning and look in the mirror and I say, ‘I make big shots’. I say it all the time and everyone makes fun of me but to come out there and make some big shots and help us get the win that’s every five-year-old’s dream,” McVeigh said via Fox Sports.
Duncan wants clean run
Brisbane Bullets coach James Duncan is hoping the club has better luck next season.
“I would love to get a clean run. Not making any excuses, but we’ve just had a plethora of different situations come through our team…we have one eye on next season and trying to build up what I think will help us compete and try make finals,” Duncan said via the Courier Mail.
