Gold prospectors lining up

An update on Gold Coast's expansion bid.
Larry Kestelman has revealed “no less than half-a-dozen different groups” have expressed interest in an NBL Gold Coast expansion team.
The League will return to the Gold Coast for the NBL Blitz in September, with the city a genuine contender to be granted a team license.
With two previous stints in the league, as the “Cougars” and “Rollers” (1990 – 1996) and “Blaze” (2007 – 2012), interest is booming in reviving the cities’ NBL legacy.
“We have no less than half-a-dozen different groups who are very keen to be involved and we are very enthused by that,” Kestelman told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
“It gives us a lot of comfort knowing the level of interest not just in the short term, but the long term.”
Kestelman added if a Gold Coast team was added, the NBL “will have a 100 per cent controlling stake in the club until we get it up and running”.
This follows the same model as the Tasmania JackJumpers, who are on the hunt for new owners.
