Daniels calls for more NBA on Aussie soil

Saturday, May 17, 2025
"It will be really good for Australia, hopefully we get to see a game a year and hopefully it’s the Hawks soon."
Atlanta Hawks star Dyson Daniels would love nothing more than to see regular NBA games in Australia, backing the NBL to host annual fixtures featuring the best players in the world.
The New Orleans Pelicans will travel to Melbourne for games against United and the South East Melbourne Phoenix in October, with the likes of Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum set to be in action.
Daniels said Australia deserves more games in the future.
“I’m sure it will be annual, especially if this ones goes well,’’ he told Code Sports. “It will be really good for Australia, hopefully we get to see a game a year and hopefully it’s the Hawks soon.’’
Daniels, the NBA’s Most Improved Player and one of Australia’s most exciting emerging talents, says taking on the Chicago Bulls and Josh Giddey on home soil would be the perfect follow-up event in year two.
“To make the effort to come, 16 hours on a plane, it’s special and it just shows that Australian sport is trending in the right direction,” he added.
Fans can pre-register for tickets for two games featuring the New Orleans Pelicans and the chance to be part of history.
