The Brisbane Bullets have announced interim head coach Greg Vanderjagt will remain in charge of the team until the end of NBL23.
The Brisbane Bullets have announced interim head coach Greg Vanderjagt will remain in charge of the team until the end of NBL23.
Vanderjagt is the third person to take the coaching reigns at the Bullets this season. The club parted ways with head coach James Duncan in November after opening the season with a 3-6 record. General Manager of Basketball Operations Sam Mackinnon initially replaced Duncan as interim coach before Vanderjagt took over.
“We’ve been impressed with the way Greg has stepped up and taken on the challenge with professionalism and tenacity over what has been an undeniably challenging week," Bullets CEO Peter McLennan said.
“We’re excited to see where he can take the group for the remainder of the season and the club is right behind him."
Vanderjagt says he's looking forward to helping the Bullets turn around their season.
“I’m excited about the opportunity and for the challenges ahead,” he said.
“I feel very honoured and privileged for the club to put me in this position for the rest of the NBL23 season.
“I’m going to do everything I can to empower this group. It’s my responsibility to lead this group and help them be successful.”
Brisbane has so far failed to win any of Vanderjagt's three games in charge.
A tough opening loss to Cairns has been followed by two blowout losses against Adelaide and South East Melbourne respectively.
Brisbane’s season continues on December 27 when the Bullets welcome Perth to Nissan Arena.
