Thon Maker Reveals “Interesting” NBL Conversations

Highly sought-after free agent Thon Maker has revealed he has had “interesting” conversations with NBL teams.

Maker is one of the hottest properties on the market, having previously played in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The 25-year-old, who is currently representing the Australian Boomers in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, says chats are in progress with NBL clubs.

“It looks interesting, but I've left that with my agent,” Maker said.

As he prepares to play in Melbourne for the Boomers – his first time playing in Australia since going pro – Maker admitted there is a lure about spending more time at home.

“This is my first time playing on home soil, besides U16 nationals and rep basketball, but it's the first time really in front of my family. Finally a pro and finally playing in front of Australia…so it's something to think about for sure, but I've left it with my agent,” he said.

Maker last played in the NBA G-League for the Long Island Nets, where he averaged 7.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

He was the 10^th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Bucks.
