The Perth Wildcats have added New Zealand-based coach Aaron Young to its coaching staff as an assistant for NBL24.
Young is currently in the midst of a successful NZNBL campaign as head coach Auckland Tuatara, where his team containing NBL names Rob Loe, Jarrad Weeks, Cam Gliddon and Reuben Te Rangi currently sit second on the ladder.
He has also led the side to three straight post-season campaigns, and a grand final berth in 2022.
“Adding Aaron to the staff brings another young and talented coach into the group,” head coach John Rillie said.
“He has displayed the ability to relate and build confidence within his playing group in the NZNBL. This skill will help develop and shape our roster as we blend youth with experience.
“He has a creative mind so he will bring some fresh ideas to the table.”
“We feel the diversity of people and the experiences they bring from all parts of the globe complements where our playing roster is at both in the short and long term,” General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills added.
“We are thrilled with how we’ve been able to add to and evolve our coaching and performance staff over the off-season.”
In addition to his head coaching experience with Auckland, Young also spent over four years as a video coordinator with the New Zealand breakers and has held roles with the New Zealand U19 national team.
