NBA Draft, pick 35: Australian Johnny Furphy

Johnny Furphy's NBA dream is now a reality, being selected at pick 35.

Johnny Furphy has become the latest Australian to make the NBA, after being selected with pick 35 by the San Antonio Spurs. According to multiple reports, Furphy has been traded to the Indiana Pacers.

Furphy enjoyed a standout season at the University of Kansas, averaging 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

The Melbourne native is known as a catch and shoot threat from the three-point line, a strong off-ball mover and someone who will always hustle on both ends of the floor.

Embracing his Australian roots, Furphy’s draft suit included a map of Australia and the names of all the previous Aussies to compete in the NBL.

Furphy is a graduate of the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence and played for the COE in NBL1 across 2022 and 2023.
