Injured Tasmania duo Will Magnay and Clint Steindl are “right around the corner” from a return according to JackJumpers head coach Scott Roth.

The star pair have been unavailable for the entirety of NBL23 – Tristan Forsyth and Isaac White were signed as injury replacement players ahead of Round 1, with White’s deal since being converted to a development player contract.

“I think right now it’s just a matter of a few days or weeks between what we decide with Will and Clint,” Roth said.

“They’re right around the corner which is all good signs. This will be a big week coming up for them.”

The JackJumpers have entered the FIBA break off the back of a period of extensive travel for the side, with Roth recently jovially complaining about being placed in a middle seat on his side’s successful trip to Perth.

However, the most taxing period of travel looks to be over and Roth says he’s keen for the opportunity to get onto the training court over the FIBA break.

“It's nice to have those types of trips off the board for the most part,” he said. “Cairns is probably our last big one but I think, more importantly, our guys get some better rest and stay around home a little more, and be available here for practices which we need.

“We’ve had a few days off which has been great for everyone. At this point we’re slowly getting back into it and having some gradual days of getting our workload back up.

“We’ll go pretty hard on Thursday and Friday and then we’ll have two more days of rest and then everything’s going to start happening again.

“We’ll get ready for Launceston which is a big thing for us to be up in that area and making sure we’re covering the entire state. We have a big week of preparation ahead of two very good teams coming up.”
