The Tasmania JackJumpers have announced that energetic forward Jack McVeigh has signed a two-year deal with the club.

McVeigh joins Tasmania after spending his first three years in the NBL with the Adelaide 36ers. The 25-year-old is coming off a career best season with the 36ers as he averaged 9.4 points in 19 minutes per game.

McVeigh was also the captain of the Australian Under-19 team at the 2015 World Championships and attended the University of Nebraska from 2015-2018.

JackJumpers Head Coach Scott Roth said: “We are so excited to have Jack McVeigh join us at the Tasmania JackJumpers.

“Jack is a player I have been following closely for the past year and a half and he has shown constant improvement during that time. He is coming off a career best season in Adelaide and we look forward to his growth continuing in Tasmania.

“Jack’s energy on the court is infectious and his passion and love for the game is undeniable. That attitude is invaluable to us and it is sure to make him an instant fan favourite. We also believe Jack’s shooting ability will be a strong asset to us on the offensive end of the floor.”

McVeigh said: “I can’t wait to get down to Tasmania for this exciting new journey with the JackJumpers.

“The opportunity to be a part of a brand new team is something that I simply couldn’t pass up. It is a special time for basketball in Tasmania and I want to help grow the sport in the state.

“Scott is building a really strong roster and it is a team I think can be successful next season. I look forward to getting to Tasmania, embedding myself into the community and playing winning basketball.”

McVeigh joins Sam McDaniel, Clint Steindl and Sejr Deans (development player) on the JackJumpers’ roster for the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
