Sotto will have NBA opportunities says Bruton

Adelaide 36ers coach CJ Bruton believes rising youngster Kai Sotto has the talent to play in the NBA.

“There’s no doubt that Kai will have every opportunity to play in the NBA,” Bruton said on Play It Right TV.

McCall backs Forde spray

Cairns Taipans star Tahjere McCall is happy his coach Adam Forde has drawn a line in the sand with the playing group, saying “you need that passion, it just shows you how much he cares”.

“When your coach cares that much, you have to go out and play hard, because if not, it’s disrespectful to somebody who cares that much about you and your best interests. I like that, we need that,” McCall said via the Cairns Post.

Players only meeting wakes up Breakers

A players only meeting in the New Zealand camp before Wednesday’s big win over the Illawarra Hawks had the desired effect, according to Breakers star Yanni Wetzell.

“It was massive. We had a look-in-the-mirror sort of meeting. We had to dig deep, find how we could prove ourselves and come out and get a win. We made it a point to turn it round this game,” Wetzell said via Stuff.

Kings can’t “let the foot off the gas” 

Riding a two-game winning streak, Sydney Kings guard Dejan Vasiljevic says the club needs to maintain their high-level performance ahead of tonight’s game with the Tasmania JackJumpers.

“[The win against the Wildcats] was a massive momentum boost for us, and it’s kind of what we needed. But now we can’t let the foot off the gas,” Vasiljevic told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Tasmania aims to shut down Kings

Tasmania coach Scott Roth says the JackJumpers will need to be switched on defensively tonight as they try to shut down the red-hot Kings.

“They have a lot of explosive weapons over there and we’ll just have to be on point defensively,” Roth said via The Mercury.

Put #42 in the rafters says Grace

Perth Wildcats legend Ricky Grace has called for the club to retire Shawn Redhage’s number, after the four-time championship winner was named in the Wildcats’ 40^th anniversary starting five.

“If you look at him being votes ahead of others that are up in the rafters, then it is a no-brainer,” Grace said via The West Australian.

JackJumpers culture “unmatched” 

JackJumpers guard Jarrad Weeks says the culture in Tasmania is “unmatched”.

“It’s an amazing club here and everyone says it and it’s a true fact…I just think the culture and buy-in at this club is unmatched,” Weeks said via The Mercury.
