No fear for Goorjian

Illawarra Hawks coach Brian Goorjian has sent an ominous message to the NBL as his club prepares for a road-heavy patch of their season.

“I respect everybody in the competition, but I fear none. No one's going to let this thing go. I respect everyone but there's no fear. I don't fear the road. It's not about where you play, it's how you play,” Goorjian said via the Illawarra Mercury.

Wildcats back Frazier II

The Perth Wildcats continue to back struggling import Michael Frazier II, after he didn’t score and had three turnovers in 17 minutes in last night’s win over Tasmania.

“He didn’t have his best game. He gave us some good things defensively tonight but didn’t show up on the scoresheet. I think he is improving, and he is under a lot of pressure. He has our full support, we believe in him and he is going to try and help us get a win next week,” Wildcats coach Scott Morrison said.

CJ coy on 36ers import

Adelaide 36ers coach CJ Bruton has stopped short of declaring the club will sign a new import for the remainder of the season.

“Clearly, if I can get it sorted to where I think it’s best for us, but if it’s not and it doesn’t work out right now then I’ll run with where we’re at,” Bruton said via the Adelaide Advertiser.

“Horses for courses” for Phoenix

The South East Melbourne Phoenix will stick with a horses for courses approach according to coach Simon Mitchell.

“Our team’s a bit of horses for courses and it’s going to be someone’s night any given situation. We have an idea of where we think we can get advantages but, at the end of the day, it’s really just about who is on on the night and just rolling with them as much as we possibly can,” Mitchell said via the Herald Sun.

Free throw focus for Zim

Cairns Taipans big man Stephen Zimmerman will dedicate his week to free throws, as he is shooting just 40 percent from the charity stripe.

“Free throws are killing me right now, personally it hurts missing free throws. I’m gonna be living on the free throw line this week,” Zimmerman said via the Cairns Post.

Hukporti growing confidence

NBL Next Star Ariel Hukporti is not only growing his on-court impact for Melbourne United, but he is also gaining more confidence behind a microphone.
