Cavs GM En Route to Perth to Watch Travers

Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Mike Gansey is en route to Perth to monitor the progress of Wildcats youngster and Cavs draft pick Luke Travers, according to The West Australian.

Travers was selected by Cleveland with the 56^th pick in this year’s Draft, with the NBA team sending him back to Perth to keep developing his game.

The West Australian has reported Gansey will be at the Wildcats’ games against Melbourne United on Monday and New Zealand Breakers next Friday to scout how Travers is playing.

Gansey is also expected to watch Perth’s training sessions and build relationships with Wildcats coaches.

The 21-year-old Travers played for the Cavaliers in the Summer League and the team has kept close tabs on him ever since, including Cleveland’s G-League boss Brendon Yu attending the NBL Blitz.

Travers was reinserted into the starting five in last weekend’s win against the Breakers. Perth is back in action on Friday night against the Adelaide 36ers at 7:30pm AEDT.
