The Adelaide 36ers look to be going local in NBL24
The Adelaide 36ers look to be going local in NBL24, and have started the process of recruiting more South Australian players to their roster for the upcoming campaign.
The side will be hosting an invite-only, two-day trial camp with the goal of signing its final three development players for NBL24, having already signed former California Baptist Lancer and current Sturt guard Keanu Rasmussen earlier this month.
The tryouts will only be open to South Australian-born players, or players who are currently participating in the NBL1 Central conference.
“We have made an extensive list of players and are going to build out the 36ers of the future,” head coach CJ Bruton said.
“The club has turned its focus onto identifying South Australian talent, and we are going about the best ways to attract the best local players to the club.”
In order to qualify for a DP contract, the player must be 24 years of age or younger by the start of the new season.
Possible, highly touted candidates for the trials could include South Adelaide’s Lloyd McVeigh, Forestville’s Malith Machar, North Adelaide’s Akech Aliir, Eastern Mavericks’ Jasper Rentoy and Jack Hemphill.
The Tasmania JackJumpers announced the re-signing of development player Josh Tomasi on Tuesday morning - who was recruited to the club in NBL23 through a similar trial process.
