The Adelaide 36ers have bolstered their off-court ranks, adding Nik Popovic as the club’s new Head of High Performance/Strength and Conditioning for NBL24.

Popovic returns to the NBL after spending over a year at NCAA program USC, and has extensive experience in the NBL with Melbourne United, South Dragons, the Sydney Kings and West Sydney Razorbacks.

“I’ve known Nik for a long time and I know what he is capable [of bringing] to a club,” head coach CJ Bruton said.

On top of his NBL and collegiate experience, Popovic spent a decade as the Director of Performance at CBA side Shenzen Basketball Club.

“I was in the league when Adelaide last won a title and I want the club to be at that level again.” Popovic said. “Adelaide is always a tough place to play with the great fan support it has, so I’m looking forward to working in that environment.

“It’s great to be back in the NBL and to work with CJ again. It’s a great story to now work with him as a coach after working with him as an athlete.”

The Adelaide 36ers will open their NBL24 campaign against Brisbane on Friday, September 29.
