Justinian Jessup will have NBA eyes on him as he returns for the second season of his NBL Next Stars contract with the Illawarra Hawks.

The 51st pick in the NBA Draft, Jessup was taken by the Golden State Warriors who retain his draft rights.

Illawarra Hawks President Dorry Kordahi suggested to Jimmy Smith on SEN that indications are that Warriors scouts will have their eye on the sharpshooter in NBL22.

"I've had good chats with Kent Lacob from the Golden State Warriors. They've been working closely with him through Summer League back in the NBA. They'll be down here probably this year keeping a close eye on Jessup as well.

"It wouldn't surprise me if he has another breakout year this year and gets called up to the Warriors team end of season."

Jessup starred for the Hawks last season averaging 13.2 points per game across 38 games including a season-high of 26 points on two occasions.

The former Boise State University star joined the Warriors for Summer League, finishing with double-figures in scoring on four occasions.

Kordahi believes Jessup can go to another level in NBL22 thanks to the recruitment of point guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes.

"Last year he was massive for us. He's a pure shooter and that's what you're going to get with Justinian Jessup.

"He can shoot the ball, last year was definitely a bit of a challenge towards the end of season with him getting as wide open shots,"

"I think we've resolved resolved that issue bringing in Xavier (Rathan-Mayes) to create the shots for him."
