Boomers head coach Brian Goorjian says Australia will be searching for as much high level competition as possible.

Pre-Olympic clashes against powerhouse sides USA and Serbia will be crucial to Australia’s medal ambitions, according to head coach Brian Goorjian.

A spate of exhibition games the Boomers will play ahead of the Olympics were announced on Thursday morning. First, Australia will take on China in Melbourne in early July, before they play the USA and Serbia on July 16 and 17 in Abh Dhabi, then head to their Olympic campaign, tipping off on July 27.

The Boomers have already announced a 22-man extended roster ahead of the tournament, which will need to be trimmed to 12 prior to the Paris campaign getting underway.

“Team USA is as tough as it gets, but it will be very good for us,” Goorjian told Code Sports.

“We will also be getting as much European competition as we can.

“We are trying to get as many games and as tough competition as we can leading into games.”

NBL24 participants Chris Goulding, DJ Vasiljevic, Jack McVeigh, Keanu Pinder, Matthew Dellavedova, Sam Froling, Will Magnay and Will McDowell-White have been named among the extended roster.
