Round 1 Recap: SuperCoach NBL Classic

So, that happened.

Six-time MVP Bryce Cotton ($473,900) declared he doesn't have rivalries, but we do, and if Round 1 of NBL27 is anything to go by, the rest of the season is going to be AWESOME.

Cotton vs Cole Anthony ($300,000) was a SuperCoach NBL points-scoring bonanza to open the season. The 36ers got the win 97-95, with Cotton clocking up a customary 42 points while Anthony was minutes-restricted but still racked up 34 points in just 21:50.

Cotton's 36ers have a double-header in Round 2, and he is an obvious captain for SuperCoaches who've spent the cash on SuperCoach NBL's most expensive player.

New Zealand Breakers point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright ($405,200) took two games to put up 99 points and was a Round 1 godsend for the captain's armband. He's a Hold now for SuperCoaches who have him as their lead guard.

And then there's Arnas Velicka ($277,000). Whoa. The Brisbane Bullets point guard is absolutely the real deal. The Lithuanian scored 23 points, added 14 assists, five rebounds and just one turnover in 35:02 as the Bullets overcame a slow start to beat the New Zealand Breakers 88-85 at Pat Rafter Arena.

Velicka has elite vision, and his connection with Tyrell Harrison ($336,100) will only get better. NBL27's leading assist man is incoming. He's priced at the entry-level import price of $277,000, and his 59 is the best single-game return of the round – nobody who played once scored more.
