According to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc, the NBL24 champions are in advanced discussions with free agent import Dakota Mathias, with the team having a strong desire to bring in the sharpshooter.

During his brief stint in Brisbane, before a shoulder injury ended his 2025–26 campaign after just eight appearances, Mathias averaged 11.8 points (including 2.3 triples), 3.4 rebounds and 1 assist per game.

Since his stint in Australia, 30-year-old Mathias represented United States in their FIBA World Cup Qualifying matches against the Dominican Republic and Mexico, before suiting up nine times for the Indiana Pacers’ G League affiliate, the Noblesville Boom.

In those nine matches, the guard averaged 21.9 points (while shooting 43.9 per cent from downtown), 4.2 dimes and 4 boards per outing.

Mathias joins fellow recruits Taran Armstrong and Ben Gold on Scott Roth’s roster, which also includes Will Magnay, Josh Bannan, David Johnson, Nick Marshall, Majok Deng, Ben Ayre and Archie Woodhill for next season.
