Sydney’s DJ Vasiljevic continued to thrive in NBL1 South action over the weekend, and helped his Diamond Valley side to a pair of wins in Round 2.

Sydney’s DJ Vasiljevic continued to thrive in NBL1 South action over the weekend, and helped his Diamond Valley side to a pair of wins in Round 2.

Vasiljevic was at his scoring best against Ringwood in the Eagles’ first game of the weekend, and dropped 40 points and nine boards while shooting an incredible 10/14 from the field – including 5/7 from three.

His Kings championship teammate Isaac Gattorna – who is currently a free agent was on double-double watch in both of his games in NBL1 West as he continues to express himself with the Geraldton Buccaneers.

The Sydney development player exploded for 20 points and 7 boards against Joondalup before adding 19 points and five rebounds against Cockburn.

New South Eat Melbourne signing Gorjok Gak put in a player of the game performance to lead his Willeton Tigers to a narrow win over Perry Lakes in NBL1 West.

The former Brisbane Bullet scored a team-high 25 points and his six of his seven free throws in the seven-point win, while also adding a game-high 14 rebounds.

New Brisbane signing Sam McDaniel has stayed in Tasmania for the NBL off-season, and added a 22-point, 11 rebound double-double against Dandenong in NBL1 South.

A handful of other NBL free agents are keeping themselves front and centre in the minds of NBL clubs with their performances in NBL1, and have been led by Junior Madut’s incredible 50-point, nine rebound effort against Penrith.

Earlier in the round Madut had also scored 24 points and added six assists in a low-scoring win against Manly Warringah.

Former Cairns Taipan Ben Ayre scored 14 points and added five assists on his debut for NBL1 South side Sandringham before following up with a massive 34-point effort in the Sabres’ win over Casey.

Free agent Todd Blanchfield and new Adelaide signing Jason Cadee teamed up in Gold Coast’s double-header in NBL1 North.

Blanchfield was on triple-double watch for both of the games. He scored 22 points while adding 10 rebounds and seven assists in a narrow loss to former Cairns big Majok Deng’s Logan, and registered 22 points, 14 boards and six assists in the Rollers’ win over Sunshine Coast.

Deng put up 23 points and 17 rebounds for the Thunder in the clash.

Cadee added a game-high 33 points in the win over the Phoenix.
