Big-name NBL players Scott Machado, Mitch Creek, Shaun Bruce, Matt Hodgson, Lamar Patterson, Jason Cadee, Jack McVeigh and Sunday Dech and all made their NBL1 debuts over the weekend.

Mitch Creek joined fellow NBL player and former 36er teammate Brendan Teys in NBL1 North, representing South West Metro in fine form with 30 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists in the Pirates’ 88-73 win over Rockhampton on Friday night.

He then backed it up with 24 points, 19 rebounds and three assists in the Pirates’ loss against Mackay. 

At JBS Stadium, Bullets big man Matt Hodgson joined teammate Nathan Sobey in Ipswich colours, with Hodgson recording 17 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists in the Force’s overtime win over Sunshine Coast. 

Sydney Kings’ Shaun Bruce helped Logan extend its winning streak to six with nine points, six rebounds and 10 assists in their victory against Brisbane. 

Brisbane’s Jason Cadee may not have had a big night on the scoreboard for Gold Coast but he chipped in with a brilliant 12 assists in the Rollers’ narrow loss to Sunshine Coast. 

Staying up north, Lamar Patterson did all he could to pull his Southern Districts over the line against Northside, notching up 30 points, five boards and five assists in his first NBL1 North game. 

Out west, Cairns’ Scott Machado drew a sold-out crowd and record stream viewers to Willetton Basketball Stadium on Saturday, recording 31 points, six boards and eight dimes for Mandurah in their three-point loss. 

In NBL1 Central, North Adelaide was boosted by the inclusion of Adelaide 36ers duo Jack McVeigh and Sunday Dech, with McVeigh notching up 21 points and 11 rebounds while Dech chipped in with 14 points of his own in the Rockets’ 85-62 win over South Adelaide. 

With the NBL21 regular season finishing and the NBL Finals in progress, more NBL stars will join the NBL1 in the coming weeks.
