Jumping ahead: Bannan all in on Jackies' way

"This is going to be a place I’m going to love and be proud of what’s on the front of that jersey.”
New Tasmania JackJumpers marquee signing Josh Bannan says the club’s reputation for player development was a key factor in his decision to head south.
“I’ve harped on the fact that everyone that’s gone to Tasmania has left a better player,” he said on NBL Now.
“They’ve just grown in that program and it’s a testament to what the coaching staff does and the performance staff.”
Despite injuries limiting his impact over the past two seasons in Brisbane, Bannan’s potential was clear, and the JackJumpers have taken notice.
“I felt like that’s a great opportunity for me and I haven’t shied away from the fact that I have big ambitions,” he continued.
“It’s a team with a very highly competitive environment and a coach (Scott Roth) who is going to demand the most out of me.
“I feel like that combination … with the day-to-day skills … will help me continue to grow and that’s an environment I love to be in.”
The 24-year-old is currently in Japan representing the NBL Select team, having spent the previous weeks down in Tasmania getting acquainted in his new home.
“It was very different putting on a different set of colours initially,” he added.
“Although I felt very grateful to be playing for them and super-excited to be on this team.
“It feels like as I’m starting to practice more and more, this is going to be a place I’m going to love and be proud of what’s on the front of that jersey.”
