United get “kick in the arse”
Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman has slammed his side’s focus and preparation after last night’s loss to Perth.
“Hopefully it’s a good kick in the arse. We’re trying to prepare this team not to have to get a kick in the arse like this to be better. I thought we had a poor practice leading into this game (and) I thought some people floated around like we’d done something and didn’t take care of their own business,” Vickerman said via the Herald Sun.
Wildcats’ best game
Perth Wildcats coach Scott Morrison says last night’s 97-87 win over the league leaders Melbourne United was the club’s best victory of the season.
“I think it was our most solid performance. It wasn’t pretty all the time but it was our best performance in terms of not beating ourselves and giving ourselves a chance to win,” Morrison said via The West Australian.
No timeline on Magnay
There remains no timeline for Will Magnay’s return, according to Tasmania JackJumpers assistant coach Jacob Chance.
“I'm not sure of the exact timeline but he's going well and doing more and more on the court. He's shooting really well and his confidence is up. It's just a matter of him building that strength back up in his knee and his confidence to get back to his game style,” Chance said via The Advocate.
Frustrated Jawai taking his time
Cairns Taipans’ Nate Jawai hopes to return from injury in the next few games but won’t be rushing himself back onto the court.
“It’s definitely frustrating, but because of my age I’ve got to take my time. Hopefully in the next few games or week I’m back,” Jawai said via the Cairns Post.
