Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde is unwell and unavailable for tonight’s game against the Brisbane Bullets.

Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde is unwell and unavailable for Thursday night's game against the Brisbane Bullets.

Assistant coach Kerry Williams will coach the Taipans in Forde’s absence.

Williams recently assisted the Australian Boomers in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers and took the Cairns Marlins to the NBL1 North semi-finals during the off-season.

Williams has a long history with Cairns, having played 105 games for the club, before becoming the Taipans’ Community Development and Indigenous Programs Manager. He has been involved with the club since 2003 and was elevated to an assistant coaching role in 2021.

Assistant Sam Gruggen adds to the depth of the Cairns coaching lineup for tonight's game. He was also part of an international campaign prior to this NBL season, helping the Australian Crocs win the 2022 FIBA U16 Asian Championship before coaching at the U17 Basketball World Cup.

Williams will lead the Taipans against the Bullets tonight at 7:30pm AEDT, with the game live on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel.
