Breath of fresh Ayre: JackJumpers spark finds his fit in Tassie

Ben Ayre is embracing life with the Tasmania JackJumpers, determined to make the most of his time in the NBL
Just days after making his Tasmania JackJumpers debut, guard Ben Ayre has opened up about how much his enjoying his time on the Apple Isle.
The 29-year-old, who played 17 minutes during Tasmania’s season-opening thriller against Melbourne United on Thursday, says he is making the most of his time with Scott Roth's side.
“I think for the most part of my whole career, wherever I’ve been, I’ve always felt lucky in every situation I’ve been in, I’ve always felt lucky to be there," Ayre said during an interview with CODE Sports.
“Almost impostor syndrome in a way, but then once you’ve worked through that part and you’re like, okay, I am actually supposed to be here, then it’s just about putting your head down and working, and then normally I relate and connect with guys.
“Especially in Tassie, I love being around the guys, it sounds silly, but I feel like we don’t hear it enough, maybe in this league, it’s good for young kids to hear it, but this is seriously my dream."
After stints in Adelaide, Cairns and South East Melbourne, Ayre is expected to play a key role off the bench for Roth's side, as they attempt to return to the post-season in the Hungry Jack's NBL26 season.
Ayre’s JackJumpers next play the Perth Wildcats at RAC Arena on Saturday, September 20 at 8.30pm AEST - with the fixture being broadcast live on ESPN.
