Australia’s men have secured their place in the main pool for the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup, after a win over Kazakhstan confirmed the Gangurrus' spot in the tournament.

Australia had already registered dominant wins over Tahiti and Kyrgyzstan prior to the meeting with Kazakhstan, the winner of which would confirm their progression to the pool stage.

The dominance continued, with an 18-7 win enough to ensure their progression. Centre of Excellence prospect Josh Davey top scored with nine points, while Illawarra Hawks pair William Hickey and Todd Blanchfield combined for five points.

Third-ranked Japan and sixth-ranked Philippines now await Australia in pool play.

Australia’s women’s team is still yet to kick off its games after they secured their position in the pools prior to the tournament starting. They’re set to face New Zealand and India in Pool D.
